Collaborative Infra @ IIT Roorkee is a research-led design proposal aimed at reimagining learning environments to foster interaction, creativity, and interdisciplinary collaboration among students. Using user-centered design and agile methodologies, the project identifies gaps in the current campus infrastructure and proposes a responsive, inclusive solution: a modular geodesic dome. Informed by extensive stakeholder interviews, empathy mapping, and ethnographic research, the space addresses functional and emotional needs—offering areas for group work, solo reflection, and spontaneous interaction, all while integrating sustainable materials and smart technology.
The project blends architecture, UX research, and service design to envision a multi-use hub for collaboration. Inspired by IIT Roorkee's iconic dome and built with cork panels, glass extensions, and LED-integrated surfaces, the prototype balances tradition and innovation. A digital interface complements the physical space, allowing users to book rooms, brainstorm in real-time, and join academic clubs. Collaborative Infra not only addresses infrastructural gaps but also acts as a blueprint for cultivating inclusive, future-forward educational ecosystems.
